How to Check Aadhaar Update Status Online with URN/SRN

Last reviewed on · By Easy Guide India Editorial Team

After you ask for a change in your Aadhaar, whether address, name, date of birth, mobile number or photo, you get an URN / SRN (Update or Service Request Number). With it, you can check online whether your update is in progress, approved or rejected. Here’s how.

What you need

  • Your URN / SRN from the acknowledgement slip or SMS (for updates done at a centre, the slip shows an EID, enrolment/update ID)
  • Your Aadhaar number (for some status options)

How to check your Aadhaar update status online

  1. Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Click Check Enrolment & Update Status (you don’t need to log in).
  3. Choose the type of request (enrolment, update or SRN) and enter your EID / URN / SRN.
  4. Enter the captcha and submit.
  5. The status appears on screen: in progress, completed or rejected (with reason).

You can also check status by calling UIDAI’s helpline 1947.

What the statuses mean

StatusWhat it means
In progress / under processingYour request is being verified. No action needed yet.
Completed / updatedThe change is done. Download your updated e-Aadhaar.
RejectedThe request failed, usually due to a document mismatch or unclear upload. Submit a new request with a correct document.

How long does an Aadhaar update take?

Many updates are completed within a few days to a few weeks. UIDAI can take up to 90 days in some cases. If your status hasn’t changed for a long time, contact UIDAI on 1947 or raise a grievance on the UIDAI website with your URN/SRN.

Frequently asked questions

I lost my URN. How can I check my status?

The URN/SRN is also sent by SMS to your registered mobile. Otherwise, log in to myAadhaar, where recent update requests are listed, or call 1947.

Why was my Aadhaar update rejected?

Usually because the entered details didn’t match the uploaded document, or the document was unclear or not in your name. Correct it and apply again.
