How to Update Mobile Number in Aadhaar (Centre or Aadhaar App)

Last reviewed on · By Easy Guide India Editorial Team

Your mobile number is the key to almost every Aadhaar service online: OTPs for downloads, updates, DigiLocker, bank KYC and more. If you’ve changed your number, or never linked one, here are the two ways to update it: at an Aadhaar centre, or through UIDAI’s official Aadhaar app using face authentication.

Fee

UIDAI’s rate card charges ₹75 for a demographic update, which includes a mobile number change.

Option 1: Update at an Aadhaar centre

  1. Find your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or enrolment centre on the UIDAI website, or book an appointment on myAadhaar.
  2. Fill in the Aadhaar update/correction form and write the new mobile number.
  3. Verify with your fingerprint or iris. No documents are needed for a mobile number update.
  4. Pay ₹75 and keep the acknowledgement slip with the URN.
  5. The new number is usually active within a few days.

Option 2: Update in the Aadhaar app (face authentication)

UIDAI’s official Aadhaar app now allows mobile number updates from home using OTP plus face authentication, where a live selfie is matched against your Aadhaar photo. Install the app only from the official Play Store or App Store listing by UIDAI, open the update option, and follow the prompts.

If your old registered number isn’t accessible, the app may direct you to a centre or other assisted service instead.

Check that it’s updated

Use Verify Email/Mobile Number on myAadhaar, or check your update status with the URN.

Frequently asked questions

Can I update my Aadhaar mobile number online on the myAadhaar website?

The myAadhaar website doesn’t offer mobile number change. Use the official Aadhaar app (face authentication) or visit an Aadhaar centre.

Do I need documents to change my mobile number in Aadhaar?

No. Only biometric or face verification is needed.

Beware of fake “mobile update” websites

Only use UIDAI’s official website and app. UIDAI never asks for your OTP over the phone.
