How to Check Train Seat Availability Online

Last reviewed on · By Easy Guide India Editorial Team

Before booking, check how many seats are available, or how long the waitlist is, on your train and class. You can do it on IRCTC or Indian Railways’ enquiry site without logging in. Here’s how, and what the availability codes mean.

How to check seat availability

  1. Go to irctc.co.in or the IRCTC Rail Connect app (or indianrail.gov.in → Seat Availability).
  2. Enter From and To stations and the journey date, and choose the quota (General, Tatkal, Ladies, Senior Citizen, etc.).
  3. In the train list, click a class to see availability for the next few days.
