Your PNR (Passenger Name Record) is the 10-digit number on your train ticket. With it, you can check whether your ticket is confirmed, RAC or waitlisted, and after the chart is prepared, your coach and berth numbers.
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| CNF | Confirmed, with a berth allotted |
| RAC | Reservation Against Cancellation: you can travel, sharing a side-lower berth, and may get a full berth |
| WL / GNWL | Waitlisted (General waitlist): the best chance of confirmation |
| RLWL / PQWL | Remote Location / Pooled Quota waitlist: generally lower chances |
| TQWL | Tatkal quota waitlist |
| CAN | Cancelled |
The first reservation chart is usually prepared several hours before departure (Railways moved the first chart earlier in 2025, about 8 hours before departure for most trains). Your final berth appears on PNR status after charting.
No. A fully waitlisted e-ticket is cancelled automatically after charting, and you get a refund.
