Want to know exactly where your train is and how late it’s running? Indian Railways’ NTES (National Train Enquiry System) shows live running status, expected arrival and delays for every train. Here’s how to use it, plus offline options.
How to check live train running status online
- Open the official NTES / Indian Railways enquiry website, or the NTES app.
- Choose Spot Your Train / Live Train Running Status.
- Enter the train number or name and select the journey date.
- You’ll see the last station passed, the delay, and expected arrival times at upcoming stations.
Without internet
SMS SPOT <train number> to 139, or call 139. See train running status by SMS.
Tips
- Choose the correct start date. For long-distance trains it’s the date the train left its origin station, which may be a day before you board.
- Check the platform number on NTES or station displays close to arrival, as platforms can change.
